Keyword, phrase or page: which search to use

  • Keywords cast the widest net. Use them to see how a whole market advertises a product type, such as "protein powder".
  • Exact phrase finds a slogan, an offer or a product name, such as "free shipping on all orders".
  • Advertiser page shows every ad one brand runs, which is the fastest way to study a single competitor.

What to look for in competitor ads

Ads that stay active for months usually make money, because brands switch off creatives that do not pay back. Check the "Started running on" date on each card and study the oldest active ads first. Note the hook in the first line, the format, the offer and the landing page. Several versions of one ad mean the brand is still testing that idea.

Frequently asked questions

How do I search the Facebook Ad Library by keyword?

Open facebook.com/ads/library, pick a country and the All ads category, then type a keyword. The page then adds q and search_type to the address. This builder writes that address for you with every filter set, so one click opens the finished search.

How do I see all ads from one advertiser?

Use the advertiser's page ID. Search the advertiser's name in the Ad Library, click the page name on one of its ads, and copy the number after view_all_page_id= in the address bar. Paste that number, or the whole link, into the Advertiser page field above.

Can I filter Facebook ads by date?

Yes. The start_date[min] and start_date[max] parameters limit results to ads that had impressions in that window. Set a From date only to see everything since a launch, or both dates for one month or one campaign.

Why do I see different ads in different countries?

The Ad Library lists ads by where they were delivered. A brand often runs other creatives in each market. Set the country to ALL for the full list, or switch countries to compare local campaigns.

How can I download ads from the Ad Library?

The Ad Library has no export button for commercial ads. Paste your search URL into the Facebook Ads Library Scraper on Apify. It returns ad text, images, video links, the call to action, landing page, run dates and, for ads shown in the EU or UK, reach data, as CSV, Excel or JSON. You need no Facebook account or Meta API key.

Is this tool free and private?

Yes. The link is built in your browser. We do not store or see your searches.
