    How the Reddit MCP server works
     
    
The Apify MCP server turns an Apify actor into a tool that your AI
        agent can call. The ?tools= part of the URL loads only the
        Reddit actor you picked, plus the helper tools that read run results.
        When you ask for Reddit data, the agent calls the tool, the actor runs
        on Apify, and the agent gets posts and comments as JSON.

     
    
You need no Reddit API key. You pay Apify for each result the actor
        saves; the Apify free plan includes $5 of usage each month.

     
    OAuth or API token?
     
       
    • OAuth signs you in to Apify in the browser. Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, OpenClaw and Hermes Agent support it. No token goes into a file.

    • An API token goes into the config as a Bearer header or an environment variable. n8n needs it. Treat it like a password.

    The page builds the config in your browser and sends the token nowhere. It shows the token masked and copies the full value only when you click Copy. You can also leave the box empty: the config then uses OAuth sign-in or a placeholder.
     
     Do I need an Apify token? 
    Only for n8n. Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, OpenClaw and Hermes Agent can sign you in to Apify with OAuth. A token is still useful for scripts and servers. Copy it from Apify Console → Settings → API & Integrations.
     
     Which actor should I pick?
